Opis mesta: Garland Texas is a city of some 223,000 people. It is only about 14 miles away from Dallas center (downtown) and about 40 minutes away from Dallas International Airport (DFW) which makes it a perfect place to live even though it's positioned in the metroplex area of Dallas.

The history of Garland goes back to the 1846 when Texas attained statehood. Prior to this year the city was a part of vast Paters colony (a settlement of families) around the current town of Dallas. The settlers started moving in in the 1850s and a community was formed in 1874. The land around the are is black and so it was suited for growing cotton which becaume their main product.

Due to new Santa Fe railroad line which was built almost a mile away people started to move closer to the rail and established a town called Embree. The same year Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad built its own station a bit north and called it Duck Creek. A battle between Embree and Duck Creek arose because they both needed and wanted the post office (which had been moved to Embree) so Joe Abbott (Congressman) was asked to move the office in between the cities. In 1887 the Government moved the post office and also named the town Garland after Attorney General A. H. Garland.

Today Garland is an advanced mid-sized town in Texas which is well connected with the whole world due to the vicinity of major airport (DFW), railroad and highways.
