Opis mesta: Novi Sad is a capital city of a Serbian autonomeous province of Vojvodina which is positioned in the north of Serbia, bordering Hungary to the north, Croatia to the west, Romania to the east. The metropolis has some 372,000 people and the urban area about 290,000.

First seattlements date back into the Stone Age - around 4500 BC to be more precise. The remains were found on the banks of river Danube which runs through the city. The town was conquered several times by different tribes, people and nations like the Celts, Romans, Huns, Byzantines, Franks, Bulgarians, Kingdom of Hungary etc.

It is worth mentioning that the main nationalities in the whole province are the Croats and Hungarians. Novi Sad and Vojvodina became a part of Yugoslavia after the World War II. In 1999 it was bombarded by the NATO forces in a compaign against Yugoslavia (and its' former President late Slobodan Milosevic).

Today Novi Sad is a modern metropolis which is looking toward the West and trying to exploit touristic and other oppurtunities and potential.
